Despite ever-advancing technology, today’s newsletter remains largely unchanged. The format is used by associations, companies, even families sometimes. Unlike a press release, however, the newsletter goes directly to customers, clients, members, and other interested parties, updating them on newest in-house developments. While the newsletter of the past would be printed out on paper, a few pages long at most, today paper has been replaced with data and bytes.
Newsletters are a modern version of the old in-house magazine, with brief updates mixed among in-depth articles. There may also be a hint of advertising as well, but a newsletter that’s purely advertising will quite likely go unread.
A well-made newsletter can be a powerful tool to maintain customer loyalty. Today, they’re sent primarily by e-mail, but the presentation can nonetheless differ. There is, of course, the simple "plain text" style, or the usual HTML format filled with images, gifs, and other multimedia elements. How much are you sending, though? Another option is to send it as a PDF attachment, which has the advantage of being viewable online, but also printed out looking just as you intended.
All three formats allow the recipient to choose how they interact with your organization – you’re just providing them with information, and maybe a link or few. Which means that a newsletter is only successful if the recipient chooses they want to read it.
An effective newsletter is an engaging one, filled with relevant information, presented in an interesting way, something that’s a pleasure to read. Keep in mind that, today, nearly every e-mail inbox is likely clogged with a flood of advertising. Your newsletter has to stand out as something of interest, rather than be sent straight to the spam folder. It’s important to write in the language of your target audience, which will pave the way for strengthening customer loyalty, and increasing both their interest and your sales. Wording and language is key, from an attention-grabbing subject line to a strong conclusion.
eWriters ensures your newsletter covers the topics you want, in the language that suits your audience. Our goal is to win you support and business.
